Harvest Farms

Harvest Farms Therapeutic Riding Center is now operating out of the

Double L Ranch in Mounds, Oklahoma.

Dr. Jackie Wilks founded Harvest Farms in Shawnee, OK.  She created Harvest Farms Therapeutic Riding Center, a place that heals with humor, rids ridicule and prohibits put-downs. It is our desire to provide a safe environment where each participant will feel loved, valued and accepted. In December 2009, we were able to help Jackie keep Harvest Farms up and running by moving the main operations to the Double L Ranch in Mounds, OK.  We still plan to serve those students in Shawnee, by sending a trailer of horses and our trainers once a week to continue their training.

Harvest Farms is a 501(c)3 non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to helping special needs children, teens and adults through equine therapy. We provide special needs children an opportunity to train, show and love horses. Harvest Farms relies on tax deductible gifts to maintain its facilities and operate its programs. Harvest Farms is an equal opportunity organization. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, income or handicap.

On December 30, 2009, several Harvest Farms students participated in the Paint Holiday Classic therapeutic riding class.  Each student participating received a collapsible step stool and commemorative plaque.  Lisa Ann Yost, trainer for the Double L Ranch, plans to continue lessons with the Shawnee Harvest Farms riders.  Please email pictures to Laura Yost, yocat13@aol.com , if you would like them added to the slide show.

NARHA logoNARHA CENTERS PROVIDE EQUINE ASSISTED ACTIVITIES
Just as other professions use accreditation and licensing systems to improve the well-being of their industries, therapeutic equine professionals have a distinction of their own thanks to NARHA’s Premier Accredited Center Program. The Premier Accredited Center Program offers NARHA centers the chance to demonstrate their excellence in providing quality, professional equine assisted activities. This voluntary process recognizes NARHA centers that have met established industry standards. The accreditation process is a peer review system, in which trained volunteers visit and evaluate centers in accordance with NARHA standards. Centers that meet the accreditation requirements based on the administrative, facility, program and applicable special interest standards become Premier Accredited Centers for a period of 5 years. Centers must renew that accreditation by the end of the fifth year.

Harvest Farms is the only premier NARHA riding center in Oklahoma.
